Evangeline Adams   February 1868 – November 12, 1932

February 8th is the birthday of one of the most respected American astrologers is Evangeline Adams. Practicing in New York City, her clientele of nearly 100,000 people including the Prince of Wales, J.P. Morgan and Enrico Caruso, Adams was an evolutionary pioneer.

The well-known quote attributed to JP Morgan stating: ‘Millionaires don’t use astrology, billionaires do’ is likely a reference to Adam’s predictive skills.

Famed tenor,  Enrico Caruso reportedly did not travel on the sea without first consulting Adams to obtain the safest dates for sailing.

Much of her clientele came to her for stock market predictions in the 1920’s, and Adams reputedly foretold the stock market crash of 1929.

Even back in the 1920’s she charged $50 for a 30 minute reading, which would be the equivalent of over $600 today! She was not shy about promoting herself, and often dressed up as a gypsy to read palms at clubs and parties.

Evangeline Adams shared lineage with two American presidents, John Adams and John Quincy Adams, and apparently used this to her advantage when establishing her business. However, her skill and accuracy are what has made her a legend.BEST GREAT

When she first moved to New York City in March of 1899, she took rooms in the Windsor hotel. Immediately, she warned the hotel owner of danger and the following day the hotel had a bad fire in which there were several deaths. The newspapers quickly picked up on the story and she became renowned.

Adams was arrested three times in New York City for fortune telling, in 1911, 1914 and 1923. Although practicing astrology was not legal at that time, all the cases brought against her were unsuccessful, and the May 1914 trial contributed to her fame.

After she gave the judge an astrology reading describing the character of his son from his birth data, he dismissed the case, saying that ‘Adams raises astrology to the dignity of an exact science.’

Evangeline Adams was a pioneer in many aspects of her time. Although never married, she had a long time female companion, suffragist Emma Viola Fry. As an author, Adams was also a leader in publishing. Her books are a treasure trove of astrological wisdom, and still serve as a well written reference for astrologers today.

For a number of years Adams employed English occultist and ceremonial magician, Aleister Crowley, as a ghost-writer for her books. Their relationship is said to been one of both love and angst, and although close at one time, they came to an acrimonious parting because of disagreements over authorship of a co-writing projects.

There is some question as to the exact year of her birth, however, Ms. Adams passed away on November 12, 1932.

More from Evangeline Adams – Uranus_front

‘Uranus indicates divine will; and the reason why he is so explosive and violent and upsetting to human affairs is that he represents the real intention, which, lying deeper than the conscientious purpose, often contradicts it. The outer and the inner are then in conflict; and whenever the battle is joined, the inner must win.

To the outer consciousness, this naturally appears as disaster; for the native dies not recognize the force as part of himself, or, if so, he regards it as a disturbing entity, and resents its dominion.

Uranus is, as in Egyptian symbolism, the Royal Uraeus Serpent; slow, yet unseen, Lore of Life and death. It takes a great deal to move  him’ but when once in motion, he is irresistible.’                   ‘ Astrology, Your Place Among the Stars’;  1930

Physicist Albert Einstein said : “Astrology is a science in itself and contains an illuminating body of knowledge. It taught me many things and I am greatly indebted to it.”

Because of the mathematical origins of astrology, it is the perfect tool to originate an unbiased observation.  In the Middle Ages, magi, scholars, and even the papacy embraced astrology. Pope Julius II (1443–1513) trusted his astrologers to set the date for his coronation; Pope Paul III (1468–1549) was guided throughout life by his horoscope.

French psychologist and statistician Michel Gauquelin  spent more than 30 years investigating astrology, exhaustive research that led him to give verification to the importance of the planetary positions at a person’s birth.

After years of analysis,  Gauqelin, originally a vowed critic of astrology, made the following statement: ‘On the whole, it emerged that there was an increasingly solid statistical link between the time of birth of great men and their occupational success. … Having collected over 20,000 dates of birth of professional celebrities from various European countries and from the United States, I had to draw the unavoidable conclusion that the position of the planets at birth is linked to one’s destiny. What a challenge to the rational mind!’

The work of Michel Gauqelin and his wife Francoise, is a foundation of the theory of Astro*Carto*Graphy.

ZOLAR: ‘Astrology is like gravity. You don’t have to believe in it for it to be working in your life’.

To receive the benefits of astrology, you need only entertain an open mind; a good astrologer will take care of the rest.

President Theodore Roosevelt kept his horoscope mounted on a chess board in the oval office. When asked about it he would reply, “I always keep my weather eye on the opposition of my seventh house Moon to my first house Mars.”

Many people are familiar with the idea that President Ronald Regan and his wife Nancy utilized the services of an astrologer. Also, Admiral George Dewey (1837–1917) and President Grover Cleveland (1837–1908) consulted astrologers throughout their lives. John J. O’Neill, science editor of the New York Herald Tribune, the first science writer to win a Pulitzer Prize, began as a skeptic and ended up a believer in astrology.

Psychiatrist Dr. Carl Jung (1875–1961) used astrology charts to assist him in diagnosis and treatment of his patients.
