The major event of the week is: Thursday, July 31 when the month ends with Sun conjunct Mercury. Always, the Sun and Mercury union suggests a strong connection between our conscious identity (Sun) and our thought processes and communication (Mercury).
The Sun-Mercury conjunction during a retrograde period indicates the halfway point of mercury’s apparent backward movement through the zodiac. This is considered an Inferior conjunction and occurs when mercury is positioned between the sun and earth from our perspective. It’s called “inferior” because mercury is closer to earth than the sun in its orbit at this time.
This conjunction is often likened to a “New Mercury” and is seen as a time for planting new ideas or initiating projects that take roughly four months to unfold.
The inferior conjunction delivers a sense of clarity; a revelation, or a turning point related to the issues being reviewed during the retrograde. This is a potent time for internal growth, reevaluation of beliefs and ideas, and the formation of new perspectives and plans that will manifest more outwardly once mercury goes direct again.
And, it’s a great time to truly get clear on plans for setting intentions at the Virgo New Moon on August 22/23.
Also this week: Venus enters Cancer on Wednesday, July 30. This is an important planetary ingress because the sign of Cancer sits in a pivotal place in the zodiac now. Venus is eager for her rendezvous with Jupiter on August 12th, but before she meets with like-minded Jupiter she must pass the fire of both Saturn and Neptune standing guard in the 1st degree of Aries. Venus must be brave and bold; standing firm in her divine femininity.
