August is the eighth month of our calendar, and the planetary lineup is in clear synchronicity with the number. Eight is a number which resolves dualities between opposing forces such as good and bad, or right and wrong. Eight also connects spirit and matter while breaking down barriers to transformation.
We now enter the cone of possibilities, and come out on the other side. With two Full Moons this month, (August 1st and 31st) and a dynamic planetary showdown on the 15th, if you are moving ahead, things will look and feel different by month’s end.
Astrologically August looks like a sandwich. The Full Moons are the slices of bread which fills our bellies. In the middle is the meat; the heart of

the Lion, so to speak. And although it is harder to digest, the center is our challenge, yet also our sustenance.
The Sabian Symbols are synchronistic messages which offer revealing insights into each degree of the zodiac.
The Sabian Symbol message for the Full Moon of August 1st reads: ‘During a Silent Hour, a Man Receives an Inspiration Which May Change His Life’. Implicit in this message is the need to rededicate our individual achievements to universal life and order. The keyword is: Ecstasy.

the 15th, both Venus and Mars interact with the outer planets. All in one day, Venus opposes Pluto and squares Uranus, and Mars conjuncts Saturn. Resurrected as a Morning Star, Venus has returned from her recent journey to the Underworld. She is not all about luxury now, rather, she seeks to regain all that has been taken from her.
Vedic astrology assigns rulership of the human eyes to Venus – and think of Pluto as x-ray vision. The avenging goddess is LOOKING at the situation of our world today, as represented by the long lasting Uranus square Pluto. Venus square Uranus is known for sudden attractions, but also sudden upsets. Hmm, I know what she sees, but I wonder what she is thinking.

The Goddess arrives with support from Mars, her warrior lover. And, Mars, joined by Saturn, is armed and ready to do battle. This is the big showdown. It will be experienced in both the personal and the Galactic arenas, and I know who is going to win.
Do you see where this is going? Or rather, where the energy flow is taking us! Remember the keyword for the big picture of 2012 and beyond is – FREEDOM. Yet, it is Saturn who carries weight of the number eight. To be truly free, we must embrace the responsibilities of control and decision making. This ultimately leads to the strengthening of our own Free Will, which is the meat of our August sandwich.
