When Place Changes Everything: My Journey with AstroCartoGraphy
How One Map Explained the Turning Points of My Life
By the time most people discover AstroCartoGraphy, they already know intuitively that place matters. They may not yet have language for it, but they’ve felt the pull of certain locations, or wondered why life unfolded so differently once they crossed a particular border.
My own journey with AstroCartoGraphy began this way, long before the system was widely known, when I was trying to understand why my life had taken a path that felt both inevitable and mysterious.
In my journey through AstroCartoGraphy, I wasn’t searching for a technique. I was searching for meaning.
A Question That Wouldn’t Let Go
I was born and raised in Colorado, yet my life carried me far from my roots to Maine; geographically, emotionally, and symbolically. The move felt necessary, even fated, but I couldn’t explain why. What I did know was that everything important in my life seemed to accelerate once I arrived.
In the mid-1970s, I purchased one of the very first AstroCartoGraphy maps available. At the time, this was uncharted territory; there were no apps, no automated interpretations, just a map and a set of ideas still forming. When I looked at that map, the question that had followed me for years finally had an answer.
Maine, and much of the Northeast, lies within a powerful convergence in my chart, a personal PowerCenter region activated by Pluto and Jupiter.
Seeing the Pattern After the Fact
Pluto and Jupiter together are often described as a “miracle maker” combination. Pluto brings depth, transformation, and irrevocable change. Jupiter expands opportunity, meaning, and growth. When I saw this, events in my life that had seemed coincidental formed a pattern.
In my Jupiter Pluto Zone:
• I gave birth to two extraordinary children, one of the great blessings of my life
• I was hired to write an astrology column for a start-up magazine, placing me on my professional path
• I met Louise Hay in New York City, an encounter that led to a publishing contract with Hay House
• I created the Easy Astrology Oracle Cards at a time when the publisher was not accepting new card deck proposals
* This zone, the US Northeast still serves me daily with opportunity and support, over 30 years later
I could not have anticipated how my map would unfold, but I took a leap of faith. Traveling to NYC, by myself and walking around the Jacob Javits center was one of the scariest things I have ever done in my life. But my map explains why opportunity met readiness when it did.
AstroCartoGraphy didn’t necessarily cause these events. However, it revealed the environment in which they were able to unfold.
From Curiosity to Commitment
What began as personal inquiry gradually became a calling. I wanted to understand this system deeply, responsibly, and in a way that honored both astrology and human experience. In 1992 I passed the rigorous certification exam administered by Jim Lewis, the creator of AstroCartoGraphy.
That certification was not simply a credential, it still represents my commitment. A commitment to accuracy, ethics, and discernment. AstroCartoGraphy deals with decisions that shape lives. Relocation, long-term travel, and place-based choices deserve thoughtful guidance, not simplistic answers.
Over the decades since, I’ve worked with clients around the world, guided retreats, and watched again and again as people recognized their own stories mirrored in their maps.
Place as Teacher, Not Promise
One of the most important lessons AstroCartoGraphy has taught me is humility. A map does not dictate outcomes. It reveals conditions. Some places amplify growth quickly. Others demand patience. Some offer visibility and opportunity; others ask for inner work, grounding, or rest.
Even challenging locations have purpose when approached consciously. And sometimes, the most supportive choice is not to move at all. This is especially true for mature individuals who are no longer chasing experiences, but seeking alignment. Sometimes your Perfect Place offers resonance and integration and there is no need to move.
A Mentored Relationship with Place
In my work today, I guide people who approach travel and relocation as meaningful life chapters. These are individuals who have the resources to choose thoughtfully and the wisdom to pause before doing so. Together, we explore not just where they might thrive, but why a particular place is calling at this moment.
Travel can be initiation. Relocation can be a rite of passage. And sometimes, staying put—once understood through the map—is the most powerful decision of all. AstroCartoGraphy becomes most valuable when it is treated as a dialogue between your soul and Mother Earth.
